I should not have taken any notice at all of your pretentions, had not you publikly, and before so illustrious a company as that of the Royal Society, endeawourd to detract from a performance, that I had intended as a not unworthy homage to that honorable Assembly, of wich I have the honour to be a member above thirty years, and for the same reason I have desired, that this my answer should be read publikly in the Royal Society, before it be delivered to you. — I am, Sir, with much consideration

Your very humble servant
S. Klingenstierna.

And as I have not since had any answer from London about these things, I take the liberty to recommend them a-new upon this occasion. I hope you will find upon second thought, that I have not given you any occasion to be angry with me and to refuse to serve me in the way of your profession. I know very well, that the generality of mankind is more apt to pardon the wrongs they have recived than those they have done, but I hope you will be an exeption from the rule and that would do honour to your caracter.
